Build your Data Record
EU law asks you to keep one written record of how your product handles personal data. We ask plain questions — you tick the answers. About 5 minutes. At the end you get a finished record to send to us, and we keep it on file for any EU regulator who asks.
Who you are
The company behind the product — the legal entity, not the app name.
e.g. Acme Apps LLC
e.g. United States (Wyoming)
Who we reach if a question comes in
What you use the data for
Tick everything that applies — most products use data for several things. Each one you tick opens two quick picks.
What you collect
Tick what applies. This is also how we spot whether you need extra protection.
e.g. app users, customers, newsletter subscribers
Health, biometrics, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, political views, or criminal records
Who else touches the data
The outside services you rely on — list the tools you actually use.
e.g. AWS (hosting), Stripe (payments), Google Analytics, Mailchimp
Most US tools store data in the US — that usually counts as Yes
How is it protected? Pick the closest.
How you keep it safe
Tick the basics you have in place. Honest answers only — this is a record, not a test.
Your finished record
Check it reads right, then send it to us. We file it and stand as your EU contact.
