LGPD vs GDPR
Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) is heavily modeled after GDPR and shares many of the same principles. However, it applies only to data processing within Brazil’s jurisdiction. Brazilian companies selling into the EU or processing EU residents’ data must comply with EU GDPR separately, including Article 27’s EU Representative requirement.
